Three years ago, as a joke, to be kitsch, Esquire Magazine wrote that the number 1 bar in America is Nye’s, a dive polka bar located exactly 200 feet from where I grew up on the Mississippi river. I repeat: Nye’s is a polka bar. Before the Esquire magazine write-up no one, and I mean no one, went there (well, except couples who like to eat roladin on a Friday night). And now, it’s the #3 check in spot in Minneapolis on Foursquare.
